At the age of 18 I took my first role as a Carer/Support worker.
I immediately developed an appreciation & satisfaction working with the elderly generation. The resilience, camaraderie and old school values make such work very rewarding.
I've now been involved with the care industry for 22 years. adapting through many changes over the decades, especially in Health & Safety.
My career has covered all ages from the very young to the elderly, including end of  life care, adopting each role individually with the immense hope, support & smiles it has deserved.
My experience is vast, covering essentials such as CPR, First Aid, Medication awareness/Administration, Artificial feeding, Suction and airway maintenance, Catheter training, Epilepsy through to Recovery procedures. Skills that are entirely generic & transferable.
I have a keen interest in Brain Injuries, Learning Disabilities, and various brain conditions although providing high quality care and improving lives through confidence gaining skills, support and friendship is not limited to any specific illness or condition. My passion is to help individuals and families stay together in their working family units, this is one area that is often overlooked.
Placing individuals at the heart of their care and support package often leads to feelings of inclusion, a voice that's heard and individuals being cared for in a manner they wish, this is my first priority.
To offer flexible care based around changeable needs is vital, perhaps more so than a regimented routine.
Maintaining and developing good mental health and happiness is at the core of my role.
